Garrett Marquis has a career in leadership roles across the private and public sectors. Mr. Marquis is a Managing Director and Chief Communications Officer at BNY Mellon, where he leads all communications for the global financial institution.
Mr. Marquis was previously a senior government official. He was a member of the CEO’s Executive Team at the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), where he co-led a global strategic initiatives department furthering U.S. foreign policy by pursuing structured finance investments in and with government entities, impact funds, corporations and development banks across Europe, Asia and South America. Prior to joining the DFC, Mr. Marquis served as the Chief Spokesperson at the National Security Council (NSC). As a commissioned officer, he was Deputy Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs. In this role, he led a team coordinating national security communications across government. While in the private sector, Mr. Marquis founded and sold Prism Group, a multi-client public affairs agency that supported clients in Washington, D.C. and across Europe.
Mr. Marquis holds a Master of Public Administration degree and Bachelor of Arts in International Relations degree from the University of Southern California (USC). He earned a certificate from the Harvard Business School High Potentials Leadership Program. Mr. Marquis was a member of the Advisory Board for USC’s Center on Public Diplomacy and was an adjunct professor at USC and Southern Methodist University. He resides in Dallas, TX with his wife and three young children.
