Another year brings another October, which is recognized nationally and statewide as Pharmacist Month, where we have a platform to share our appreciation for the work you do every day. We are so grateful to the pharmacy professionals of Texas who keep our citizens safe and healthy as an integral part of our healthcare system.
Read this special thank you message from Texas State Board of Pharmacy President Julie Spier, R.Ph.:
It is amazing how fast the seasons come and go, although summer heat did seem to last forever this year. At the beginning of fall, though, I really enter a season of gratefulness.
Brene Brown says that we should “practice gratitude to honor what’s ordinary about our lives, because that is what’s truly extraordinary.” She goes on to say, “If we look at the simple things in life with an eye towards gratitude, those things of everyday life become everyday miracles.”
This is the time of year when our peers and colleagues are not only caring for our communities every day through prescriptions, compounds, and clinical services, but also protecting them with seasonal immunizations against the diseases that peak during our winter months. I am deeply grateful for what all of our pharmacists, interns, and pharmacy technicians do every day, but especially this time of year.
What the pharmacy community does is nothing short of extraordinary and makes a difference every day in the lives of the citizens of Texas.
I would ask that in taking care of others, you take care of yourselves as well. This can be accomplished in many ways but does need to be prioritized. It can be as simple as taking a walk or a short daily meditation, or spending quality time with friends. We have a personal responsibility to ourselves, our families, and our patients to practice self-care.
On behalf of the entire Board and the staff of the Board of Pharmacy, we would like to recognize all our license holders and wish them a happy National Pharmacist Month.
Julie Spier, R.Ph.
