Common Scam Targets
What kinds of things are scammers after?
Scammers can be after several things. The most commonly reported scams involve scammers attempting to:
- Extort money from individuals
- Obtain drug wholesaler information
- Extract a combination of information allowing them to potentially gain access to drugs through a pharmacy's legitimate channels
Scammers may use all means of communication (phone, email, fax, etc.) to try to get this information from pharmacy professionals.
Scammers may also impersonate a staff member when attempting to obtain this information. Our staff list is readily available on our website, so even if the person on the phone or in written correspondence appears to be a TSBP staff member, hang up and always call TSBP directly if you are suspicious that the person you're speaking with may be a scammer.
